Yes, you can actually judge a book by its cover. This
is the people who brought you
Trainspotting trying to milk
every last penny out of the film and its associated soundtrack.
Some of the music here -- Heaven 17's "Temptation," Sleeper's
"Statuesque" and Ice MC's "Think About the Way"
-- actually did appear in the film. Most of it, though, seems
to have been added to flesh out a collection of residual odds
and ends (the "Habanera" from Carmen, for example),
with dubious justifications included in the liner notes. Apparently
author Irvine Welsh had Goldie's "Inner City Life" included
here because he felt that's what the Trainspotting characters
would be listening to these days. I don't give a shit, really,
good though the track is. Trainspotting #2 is a marketing
ploy so transparent that I'm really not inspired to say anything
more on the subject. Yawn...
