My God, it's a rock opera! And it comes with real corduroy in the jewel case! And it sounds like Raffi singing for the Romantics! And Meat Loaf! Jane -- stop this crazy thing!

The story of a suburban nerd named Dennis Bland, UnPop... steers too close to novelty-rock territory to really be taken seriously, and at best it can serve as companion listening for fans of the movie Welcome to the Dollhouse. You know the score: lonely nerd masturbates frequently while thinking about the girl next door, her boyfriend finds out, lonely nerd meets up with the mother of all ass-whuppings.

Apparently The Previous are already working on a sequel tentatively titled UnPop...2: The Truth According to Martin Way, to be released "when we sell enough of this one so that we can afford to record it," says singer Andras Jones in the liner notes. Be afraid... be very afraid...
