Yep, this is ska -- not ska-core, not jazz ska, but real ska, with horn breaks in great abundance, the requisite uppy-stroke reggae guitar and the stingy rhythm section (though it has to be in question whether the vocalist is really British or not).

I don't like this tape very much, though that's not surprising. It was recorded live to tape at a late night studio session, and it's really hard to capture the energy and sweat of a wildly-skanking ska band onto a recorded medium.

Ah, who the hell am I to gripe? All the two-tone rude boys will really love this. Side two is better, maybe because the liquor was loosening the band up by that point. I do know that the bass player definitely sounds like he felt immortal...
