Review by Darren Kerr

42-second excerpt from "Sick and Tired" (various formats)

Looking at the name "Truckerbutt," I was expecting irreverent fuck rock like Victoria's excellent Gus or redneck froth like Antiseen or Cocknoose... not even close. Gumby's Last Stand is either the work of schizophrenics or a band trying to find an identity among many diverse styles.

The racist kiss-off "Bleed Red" and the frenetic "Sick and Tired" make one believe that Cheap Trick has crash landed in grebo territory usually occupied by the likes of Pop Will Eat Itself, only a bit more chaotic and not as dated. "Chosen Solo" is driven by forceful acoustic guitar and almost world beat percussion until three-quarters through when the drums go mad and the rest of the band have to turn it up a notch in order to save face. There are some strong metallic pop songs and even some balladesque stuff that isn't weak or sappy. Pretty good considering that I was expecting a more volatile bliss.
