45-second excerpt from "Something's Gotta Give" (351 Kb .au file)

Miss Alexander's bio blows some pretty big smoke. It portrays her as an eccentric optimist who's a little bit dangerous and a little bit farm-girl goodie-two-shoes. Remember that t-shirt from years back: "Some do, some don't, some will, some won't... I might"? Well, Alexander's press release says, "A lick, a kiss, a bite -- you decide." It makes you think she "might."

Thankfully, she doesn't sound like any of the angst-filled chanteuses prevalent in modern rock today, the ones who borrow from Kate Bush's back catalogue like car-jackers borrow your car. No, Alexander is more like Rickie Lee Jones, with more clichés. If deep, will-o-wisp, dandelion in the wind songwriting is what you've been a-hankerin' for, then she's your girl. This CD would go well with a bottle of wine on that overcast Sunday afternoon when you finally decide to paint that wicker chair on your front porch.
